Meghan Akiwenzie

Meghan Akiwenzie is a 22 year old Potawatomi, Blackpool and Ojibwe artist from Aamjiwnaang. Being a self-taught creator, Meghan uses beadwork to reclaim her culture and connect to community while pursuing her education in Social Service Work at Northern College. "An aspect of my work that is most important to me is the restoration of old stones, shells and beads. Given new life from being old jewelry, repurposing natural materials demonstrates that anything can be made beautiful again with proper care while appreciating Mother Earth." Meghan will be a guest speaker/workshop facilitator during the conference, she creates a welcoming and inclusive space for you to explore your creativity.
